I have recently decided to learn how to drive. I keep seeing loads of young drivers everywhere and figured if they can do it, then so can I. I put off learning to drive for years now, and really regret it too. I could be out and about driving round, and instead I am still learning. My partner has insured me on his car, so I have been practicing in his car too, however when I drive his car, then drive the driving instructors car I find that I make a lot of mistakes, so I am keeping to the driving instructors car until I have passed.

My partner booked and paid for my lessons for my birthday. I was very nervous before my first lesson, and was thinking of ways I could get out if it. I met my driving instructor and he seemed lovely. He assured me that he would not make me do anything that I didn't want to do and we would take things as slow as I liked. It made me feel much more at ease and made the lessons less frightening.

My first lesson went really well and I felt much more confident about driving after the lesson. My driving instructor is very calm and patient with me and even when I have made a massive boo boo he calmly tells me how not to let it happen again, and how it happened. I had planned not to take my theory test until I was almost ready for my practical test, as I didn't want to take it and then not pass my test. But my driving instructor said I was doing really well so I booked my theory.

I must have read the highway code about 10 times and I found an online test to practice on to. The day before my theory test I sat in front of the computer and answered well over 1000 questions. My eyes were burning but I am glad I did it, as I passed my theory test with flying colours.

I phoned my driving instructor and and told him I had passed and he said he is going to start preparing me for my practical test. He has been on holiday for the past 2 weeks so I have not had any lessons, but I have been out in my partners car a few times. I can't wait to be driving and having my own independence.
